SEAQUILT for Cardigan castleVolunteers at the Castle are currently working on a SEAQUILT, using up donated fabrics ( there was a lot of blue and green) so to me it seemed logical to make a quilt about the sea. I love old maps, and the shipping routes looked like stitches to me so the idea came from there, we could stitch all the shipping routes from Cardigan Port and Castle. This would give the history group something to research, and also individual stitchers could do some research themselves about folklore as well as factual stories around the sea and its many voyages to and from the town. Having got just a little interested in Welsh Quilting (!) once the routes have been added then we will have a go at quilting the waves into the sea. This is experimental ( for me) - many of us are learning as we stitch, the more seasoned quilters are going to have to shut their eyes and try not to cry over the wonky stitches. I keep saying this is what makes it come alive! this i s what makes it real! and human!
